S.N.A.P. gets an addition with the recent arrival of a new cart.
The Student Nightime Auxiliary Patrol is a service on campus that provides a safe nightly escort upon request. S.N.A.P. utilizes the “Buddy System” and reminds students, “Don’t walk alone at night”.
S.N.A.P.’s hours of operation are 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., and an escort via foot or University Police golf cart can be requested by calling 256-765-4357 extension #5.
This semester, a few changes have been made to S.N.A.P.. Students will now scan in via campus groups upon entering the cart. Another new addition is the GEM 6 golf cart, which was donated by the Student Government Association.
S.N.A.P. dispatcher, Cody Roemer, said, “We have doors, a backup camera and we hold more people now, it’s so wonderful. It seats four, where the old cart seated just two and the new cart is electric, so we don’t have to use gas now, which is nice and the battery usually lasts a whole shift.”
More locations have also been added with the new cart.
Roemer said, “With the new cart, we have access to the roads around Lot O now. Which everyone has been needing rides there pretty badly last semester. So now everyone in Lot O has an easy and safe way to get back to the dorms.”
