From Aug 14 to Sep 13, UNA’s “Mane Month” is full of events put on by the university’s centers, departments and UNA student-led groups.
The Mane Month calendar showcases all these events, including their locations, times, and organizers.
At the beginning of every school year, Mane Month is responsible for some of the most highly anticipated annual events. Before classes began, Housing & Residence Life, together with the University Program Council, helped produce the annual Playfair. After this, the first week of classes started off with the Lucky Dip at Harrison Fountain, hosted by the Student Government Association on Aug. 20.
The Mane Month calendar describes Mane Month as “a coordination of activities hosted by various organizations, groups, and departments across campus during the first month of the fall semester.”
They also say it’s an important time for new students.
“It is one of the most important times for new students to get connected on campus,” the site said.
Events like the Big Deal, happening tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Silent Disco on Aug. 22, and more are crucial for a new student’s involvement on campus and in the community.
First Friday, on Sep. 5, is hosted by the Downtown Florence Alliance and is also present on the calendar. UNA and the DFA work closely together to bring a sense of community to Florence.
