The University of North Alabama’s own Lion Bridge Publishing will hold the online launch party for the book “I Don’t Go Down That Road Anymore” by Rachel Nix on April 20 at 1 p.m.
The press is entirely student run and operated as they collaborate in copy editing, marketing and design process. Lion Bridge Publishing focuses on open-access publishing through the Digital Press at Collier Library.
Each semester, the press publishes a brand new book. This semester, they collaborated with Rachael Nix, a writer and editor from North Alabama. Nix is known for her numerous works and multiple nominations from Best New Poets and Best of the Net.
Nix’s work focuses on themes of “family, location and womanhood.”
“Mothers braise like moon and sun, names are tried on and shed, inherited traits prescribe bodily identity as well as metaphysical and these bodies also learn to be reclaimed,” the editorial staff stated in a release. “This collection challenges the meaning of leaving as a transformation rather than an escape, and even forgiveness treads suspiciously with its weight being measured, not freely given.”
“[O]nce her voice is in your ear, dear reader, you will keep listening for it,” said accomplished author Jeanie Thompson. “Her unabashed truth-telling resonates for a long time.”
The editorial staff has welcomed all interested to the free launch party at the following link.
