Capturing the Spirit

Capturing+the+Spirit

Charcoal burning, bright lights blazing, freshly painted green turf and the sound of the band playing the fight song: Football season has begun.

I am a senior here, and I am ashamed to admit that the Miles vs. UNA game was the first I have attended at UNA. But as soon as I arrived, I felt right at home.

My challenge for the evening was to attempt to “capture the spirit” of UNA. When I think of capturing a moment, photography is the first thing that comes to mind. I honestly thought, “Hey, this should be simple. Just take some photos of the fans and call it a day.”

My perspective changed when I realized the amount of people that were at Braly Stadium. Students, alumni, cheerleaders, the Pride of Dixie Marching Band and so many others joined together to support our team.

It was then that something “clicked” with me. Each fan in attendance has a spirit of UNA that can be captured. There is no way that a handful of photos or 500 could begin to tell the story.

So, as you look over this page, keep in mind that these photos can only begin to skim the surface of “capturing the spirit” of UNA.
