Flor-Ala, SGA team up to host presidential debate tonight

Jori Chatman, Laura Giles, Robby Thompson, Will Riley, William Nash, Jordan Brasher and Mary-Francis Wilson are running for SGA office.

The Flor-Ala student newspaper staff and the Student Government Association are teaming up for the first time to host an SGA presidential debate March 8 at 7 p.m. in Stevens Hall auditorium.

The event, which is scheduled to last approximately one hour, will allow presidential candidates William Nash and Will Riley to square off and discuss issues in a public forum that matter most to UNA students.

Miss UNA 2012 Anne-Marie Hall will act as emcee of the evening. There will also be a 15-minute session before the debate where other UNA students running for SGA executive positions will introduce themselves and discuss their visions for the upcoming year if they are elected.

UNA students, faculty, staff and community will have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates at the debate. The event is free and open to the public.

The Flor-Ala will distribute prizes at the event, and Foursquare will also be giving away free merchandise to attendees.
