With Halloween right around the corner, various communities in the Florence-Shoals area are hosting a variety of events to encourage getting into the spooky spirit. There are many events this Halloween for all different ages.
Arx Mortis Haunted Attraction
Arx Mortis in Killen is one of Alabama’s largest haunted attractions and will be open from October 30 to November 11, starting nightly at 7 p.m. Arx Mortis offers an immersive haunted house experience through five different stories. This year, the attraction added a new section named “Blood Hive” and added onto their already existing “Deadwater Bayou.” Tickets begin at $32.99 and can be purchased online or in person at the gates.
Haunted History of the Shoals Ghost Walk
Guided by local historian Debra Glass, the Shoals Ghost Walk offers participants to learn about Florence’s eerie and haunted past. The tours are available until Oct. 31 and begin at 7:30 p.m. in Wilson Park. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for ages 7-12. Some of the haunted landmarks include downtown Florence’s most haunted restaurant, a Civil War hospital, homes of famous residents and more.
Boo Bash 2025
The Renaissance Shoals Resort & Spa is hosting a Halloween “Boo Bash” concert featuring Drumb and Drumber. The doors will open at 7 p.m., and the band comes on at 8 p.m. The bash will also host a costume contest at 9 p.m. Winners of the costume contest will receive various prizes for the most creative and outstanding costumes. Drinks and other concessions will be available throughout the night. Tickets are available online and at the door for $10.
Frankenville Haunted Amusement Park
Located right beside Arx Mortis Haunted Attraction, Frankenville is open Oct. 29 through Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. This Halloween, Frankenvillle introduces its re-imagined attractions open for all ages. The attractions include an interactive castle adventure, neon mini golf, laser blaster challenge and the Mystery Mine ride. Adult tickets are $9.99 and children’s tickets are $14.99.
Trunk or Treating
Many “trunk or treats” are open around Halloween this year. The “Exceptional Fall Festival” is on Oct. 31, hosted by the Chadwick Foundation at Christ Chapel from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. On Oct. 29, the “Central Flea Market Trunk or Treat” will also be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Other local churches like Central Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church are also holding trunk or treats. All are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes and bring buckets for candy.
