Two UNA men’s tennis players took home wins in the finals of the ITA Conference Masters Championships.
The team traveled to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the ITA Conference Masters Championships, which occurred from Nov. 6 to 9. Juniors Alberto Altur and Izan Orgiles took home two wins for the team.
This season was the first time the team was able to make it to the ITA Conference Masters Championships and play all the way into the finals. Altur gained a win in the singles category. Together, Altur and Orgiles gained a doubles win in the main bracket.
In the consolation bracket, Altur had a 4-0 win against Alabama State’s Milan Ristov. Also playing twice against Illinois State’s Tomas Valencia, with a loss of 7-5 and 6-3. Altur ended the tournament with a 6-2, 3-6 and 2-6 defeat to Dayton’s Mikkel Zinder.
In the main-bracket tournament, Altur and Orgiles paired together for a 6-1 and 6-3 win over Binghamton’s William Morais Binnie and Ronin Lotlikar. The second match ended in a loss of 6-2 and 6-2 against Rice’s Petro Kuzmenok and Santiago Navarro.
At the end of the 2025 fall semester, the team had 62 singles and doubles victories.
The team has high expectations for the Spring 2026 season, with past wins in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
This winter, on Jan. 23-24, 2026, the ITA Kickoff Weekend will be at Ohio State, where UNA will play Ohio State, Purdue and Old Dominion.
