The Lions were defeated in a sweep by Lipscomb on Nov. 7 in Nashville. As of Nov. 8, UNA holds a 12-14 record overall and a 6-7 conference record.
Sophomore Dylann Garner led the game with nine kills and one block. Junior Kendall Barnes trailed closely behind with eight kills and four blocks. Setter Kinslee McGowan had 26 assists and libero Lankford Gurner secured seven digs.
All three matches proved to be a back and forth fight for dominance. The Lions began the first set with a 3-1 lead until the Bisons quickly responded with a 4-0 run. Lipscomb maintained the advantage of 20-12 before UNA gained momentum and shortened the score difference by four points. The Bisons ended the set 25-19.
Set two proceeded with back and forth scoring until an 11-11 tie. The Bisons scored five straight points while the Lions responded the same. Lipscomb claimed the second set 25-20.
In the Lions last attempt to prolong the game, Lipscomb’s energy was at an all-time high as they took a 12-4 advantage. With three-straight rallies from the Lions, they managed to cut the difference 18-16 until the Bisons secured their third straight win 25-18.
As volleyball season nears its end with only three games left, they look to secure a bid to the Atlantic Sun Championship.
