New baseball field inaugurated with a 2-1 win for the Lions

Hall of Famer Mike D. Lane inaugurated the new baseball field named after him, then sat at the bleachers to watch his alma mater come out of a three-game series victorious.

Over 1,700 fans joined North Alabama baseball for the ribbon-cutting ceremony onP Feb. 13, followed by a three-game series. Lane opened the ceremony with the first pitch, and the Lions closed it on Feb. 4 with a 2-1 win over the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougars.

Manuela Ludolf is a senior English major concentrating in professional writing and minoring in project management. She is serving the Flor-Ala for her fifth semester as sports editor. Ludolf is also a resident advisor, writer for Flow Magazine, editor-in-chief of the Lights & Shadows literary journal, English Club vice president, and UNA Center for Writing Excellence tutor. She aims to become a rhetoric professor and researcher.
