Former soccer star Alice Bussey signs professional contract with Oxford United Women’s Football Club.
After spending the last six years competing in the United States, Bussey is heading back home. Oxford is just over two hours away from her hometown of Hythe, England.
She will also reunite with former North Alabama teammate Kate Wiseman, who signed with the club prior to the 2023-24 season. The two played together for three seasons at UNA from 2020-22 and will now share the pitch on a professional level.
“I am really excited for this opportunity,” Bussey said. “This club has a lot of momentum currently. It has been so fun playing with Kate (Wiseman) again. I am looking forward to the next stage of my football career, but could not have done it without the coaching staff, athletic trainers and players at North Alabama.”
With UNA soccer since 2020, Bussey was the team’s most experienced player of the 2025 season under Head Coach Chris Walker. She appeared in 19 matches, logging 1,224 minutes and leading the team in goals with five. She recorded 39 shots, 27 on target, finishing the season with a .692 shots-on-goal precision – the highest in the nation.
Throughout her time in Florence, Bussey built one of the most decorated resumes in program history. Her honors include multiple All-Atlantic Sun Conference selections, All-South First Team nomination, USC All-American Second Team honors and spots on the Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List. Also earning several academic recognitions and serving as team captain for three seasons.
“I am really proud of everything Alice has accomplished during her time with us at North Alabama,” Walker said. “I am excited to watch her play at the next level. With her work rate and her ability, I have no doubt she will be successful.”
Bussey is now the eighth player in Walker’s tenure at UNA to sign a professional contract. She leaves Florence with two degrees and an opportunity to follow her dream of playing soccer on a professional level.
